Climate 101: Keeping it Simple
Being environmentally conscious doesn't need to be difficult or daunting. There are many meaningful things we can do that don't take a lot of time, effort, or resources. In this workshop, we’ll gather for an interactive conversation about our planet and its needs and share ideas about how work together in easy, accessible ways to honor, love, and support the Earth.
Eco-Journaling: Writing as a Practice
Keeping a journal is a popular - and effective - healing practice. From the casual to the medical, scientists have used writing and drawing to drive and document their work. In this workshop, we’ll use several prompts such as quotes, printed photos, and time outside to inspire our own work to care for our planet and its creatures.
Environmental Art: Drawing the Charcoal Mountain
No one knows you, your needs, and your desires more than you; sometimes we just need new ways to access that knowing. In this workshop, we’ll use an Indigenous meditation exercise to explore that: using drawing prompts to express our inner knowing about our purpose and priorities; then use both individual meditation and group conversation exercises to figure out what to do about it.
Floral Design 101: Market Bunch Make-and-Take
There is nothing quite like taking a bunch of random flowers and greens and turning them into something amazing! In this workshop, we’ll learn basic floral design techniques and use those techniques to transform a basic market bunch of garden blooms into a simple-but-formal arrangement that shows off your own personal floral flair.
Gardening 101: Plant for Pollinators
Birds, bees, bats, and butterflies are essential to maintaining nature's diverse and prolific beauty, and promoting conservation of these creatures is as easy as growing the right flowers. In this workshop, we’ll learn how to choose, plant, and maintain a garden scape meant to attract midwestern pollinators to your yard or neighborhood.
Natural Faith: Forest Walking
The Earth needs us for healing, as much as we need the Earth. In this workshop, we’ll explore several nature-centered spiritual traditions meant to deepen our understanding of creation and our interconnectedness with our planet and one another and formulate a plan for further research and personal practice.
Pollinators 101: Raising Monarch Butterflies
Monarch butterflies have been on and off the endangered species list for decades. Thanks to broadly publicized information about these beautiful creatures, we are learning how to protect them. In this workshop, we’ll learn the facts about rearing monarch butterflies and envision ways to prepare our homes and communities to receive, rear, and release monarchs in order to ensure their existence.
